1. Overview

metapeel Metadata ("metapeel") operates a web-based metadata inspection and removal tool accessible at the metapeel website. This Privacy Policy explains how metapeel handles information when you use this service.

2. File Processing

2.1 Client-Side Only

All file processing occurs exclusively within your web browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. When you upload a file to metapeel:

• The file is read into your browser's memory (RAM)
• Metadata is extracted and displayed to you using local JavaScript libraries
• When you choose to clean metadata, the binary processing happens entirely on your device
• The cleaned file is generated in your browser and offered for download

At no point is your file transmitted to any server, API, or third-party service.There is no ability to see, access, or recover your files.

2.2 Audio/Video Processing

Audio and video metadata cleaning uses FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly (ffmpeg.wasm). This library is downloaded from a public CDN (unpkg.com) and runs entirely within your browser's WebAssembly runtime. No file data is sent to the CDN or any other server.

2.3 Data Retention

metapeel does not retain any files you process. All file data exists only in your browser's memory during your session and is released when you close the tab or navigate away. There is no server-side storage of user files.

3. Information Collected

3.1 Information You Provide

metapeel does not require accounts, sign-ups, or any personal information to use. No names, emails, or contact details are collected.

3.2 Website Requests

metapeel does not use product analytics, advertising pixels, session recording, device fingerprinting, or cross-site tracking. As with any website, the hosting and CDN providers receive ordinary HTTP request information needed to deliver and protect the static site. metapeel does not use that information to build user profiles or connect visits to processed files.

3.3 Cookies

metapeel uses a minimal number of cookies necessary for the site to function. See the Cookie Policy for details.

4. Third-Party Services

4.1 Content Delivery

A CDN may be used to deliver the metapeel application (HTML, JavaScript, CSS) to your browser. This involves standard HTTP requests that the CDN may temporarily log for operational purposes.

4.2 Optional Contributions

If you choose to follow the support link and make a one-time contribution, the external payment provider processes the transaction under its own privacy policy. Contributions are optional and are separate from using metapeel.

4.3 No Third-Party File Access

No third party ever has access to files you process with metapeel. metapeel does not integrate with cloud storage providers, social media platforms, or any service that could receive your files.

5. Security

Appropriate technical measures are implemented to protect this service. Because all file processing happens in your browser, the primary security boundary is your device itself. It is recommended to:

• Using an up-to-date browser
• Accessing metapeel over HTTPS
• Clearing your browser data after processing sensitive files

6. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

• Access any personal data metapeel holds about you
• Request deletion of your personal data
• Object to processing of your personal data
• Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

7. International Users

metapeel is available globally. By design, metapeel does not transfer personal data across borders because personal data is not collected server-side. Your file data stays on your device regardless of your location.

metapeel does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. metapeel does not require any personal information to use.
