By accessing or using metapeel Metadata ("metapeel", "the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you must not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

metapeel is a free, browser-based tool that allows users to inspect and remove metadata from files including images (JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, TIFF, RAW), documents (PDF, DOCX, XLSX, ODT, ODS), audio (MP3, OGG, FLAC, WAV), and video (MP4, AVI, MKV, WebM). All processing occurs entirely within your web browser — no files are uploaded to any server.

3. Use of the Service

You may use metapeel for personal or commercial purposes. By using the Service, you agree to:

• Not use the Service for any unlawful purpose
• Not attempt to disrupt, overload, or interfere with the Service's functionality
• Not reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code (the code runs in your browser and can be inspected via DevTools)
• Comply with all applicable local, state, national, and international laws

4. Accuracy of Results

While every effort is made to ensure that metadata is properly identified and removed, there is no guarantee that all metadata will be detected or removed from every file. Different file formats, encoding methods, and edge cases may result in incomplete metadata removal.

For particularly sensitive files, it is recommended to verify the results independently. You can re-upload the cleaned file to metapeel to confirm no metadata remains.

5. Intellectual Property

metapeel is open-source software released under the MIT License. You are free to use, modify, and distribute the software in accordance with the terms of that license. The metapeel name, logo, and visual design are not covered by the MIT License and may not be used without permission.

You retain full ownership of all files you process with metapeel. No rights are claimed to any content processed through the Service.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. IN NO EVENT SHALL THE AUTHORS OR COPYRIGHT HOLDERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES, OR OTHER LIABILITY, WHETHER IN AN ACTION OF CONTRACT, TORT, OR OTHERWISE, ARISING FROM, OUT OF, OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE SERVICE OR THE USE OR OTHER DEALINGS IN THE SERVICE.

In no event shall the developers, contributors, or operators of metapeel be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages (including but not limited to loss of data, privacy breaches, or business interruption) arising from the use of or inability to use the Service.

metapeel strives to remain available at all times, but uninterrupted access is not guaranteed. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond my control. Since all processing happens in your browser, you can continue to use previously loaded versions even if the server is temporarily down.

9. Changes to Terms

The right is reserved to modify these Terms of Service at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. You are encouraged to review these terms periodically.
